Nepal welcomes Republic
Thursday 08th of May 2008 [ ???????, ????? २६, २०६५ ]

 

The long awaited and historical first sitting of Constitution Assembly held on 28 May declared that Nepal has turned into the into an independent, indivisible, secular, inclusive, federal democratic republic country with sovereignty  and state authority remain in the people.

The CA meeting instructed the government to make sure that Gyanendra Shah and his family leave Narayanhity Royal Palace within the next 15 days. It has also instructed the government to make necessary arrangements for the safety of all property inside the palace.

 

Issuing a press statement on 29 May 2008, National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) has welcomed the decisions made by the first sitting of CA. Similarly, Inter-religious Council Nepal (IRCN) has also welcomed the decisions made by CA.
